But how well does it work?

In this candid review, I’ll discuss my own experiences utilizing the site to seek relationship coaching.

It’s like having an expert on your side who can provide you with realistic and effective advice on how to fix your relationship problems.

Users can call, text, or video chat with up to 70 full-time coaches who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I’m sure that many people, like me, seek love, dating, and romantic relationship advice.

However, they can assist with a wide range of relationship issues. So that covers family concerns, friendship disputes, problems with your boss, and so on.

Basically, if you have a problem with another person, it is a relationship problem, and thus it is addressed by this sort of coaching.

Is Relationship Hero safe?

As the founder of a popular personal development website, Sons Of Universe, I am frequently asked if Relationship Hero can be trusted and if I could provide some trusted reviews.

No doubt, Relationship Hero is real and legit.

I’ve used it several times myself. And, while I don’t think it’s for everyone (more on that later), the quality is undeniably great.

It was created in San Francisco in 2016, and over 100,000 people have benefited from its services.

They’ve also received over 64,000 5-star ratings.

They’ve also been highlighted in reputable news sites such as the New York Times, Brides Magazine as well as Business Insider.

As a result, they’ve established themselves as a reliable supplier of relationship coaching.

What can Relationship Hero assist you with?

As I previously stated in this review article, Relationship Hero assists with a wide range of challenges.

They can assist you with specific relationships in which you are experiencing difficulties. They can, however, assist you with more basic relationship issues.

For example, if you think you’re terrible at dating and always choose the wrong types of people, or if you don’t know how to talk to women.

It’s not an entire list, but here are a few instances of what they claim they can assist with, simply to demonstrate the breadth of what we’re discussing:

Why did I hire a relationship coach?

Therapy was absolutely not the norm when I was growing up. You just went about your business.

It’s amazing how quickly things can change. People nowadays seek out therapists only to relate their mundane daily worries.

Coaching, I believe, is the new treatment. It has expanded rapidly in recent years. And, I believe, for good reason.

Relationships do not come with an instruction manual. And people are recognizing that it’s far better to get help in your relationships than to let them break apart.

I just got married. However, marriage is not always the joyful ending to a relationship. It’s still difficult work at times. Every relationship will experience ups and downs. Mine, for one, has.

After all, just because you love someone doesn’t imply you won’t have troubles with them.

I don’t believe in sugarcoating my life and projecting a rosy image of myself. And the truth is that I am occasionally frustrated in my relationship (which I believe is very natural).

Running Sons Of Universe, a blog committed to providing practical and accessible relationship advice (and as a self-help junkie), my personal development is critical to me.

So, a few years ago, at a period of difficulty in our relationship, Jess (my wife) and I both decided to seek relationship coaching.

I’ll go into more depth about my experiences later. But it did enable us communicate more honestly with one another.

Relationship coaching and therapy: what’s the difference?

While writing this review article of Relationship Hero, I can definitely say I prefer coaching over therapy hands down.

Why?

Because I am solution-oriented.

I don’t want to just express my emotions. To feel like I’m making progress, I want to find practical and actionable solutions.

Therapy is certainly beneficial for some people, but others (like me) may believe that coaching is a better fit for their needs.

With traditional treatment, I might easily slip into the habit of simply complaining about my problems, so remaining stuck in them.

But Relationship Hero is more than simply someone to listen to you – while that is a part of it. It appears to be significantly more proactive than therapy.

They are there to assist you in setting goals. They then work with you to assist and strategize as you move towards those goals.

In other words, it’s not just talking the talk; it’s also living the walk.

What is the price of Relationship Hero?

You’ll see in my pros and cons section (coming up next) that cost is one area I believe may be improved.

It is always relative whether something is expensive or not. But we’re not talking about pennies here.

I can’t tell you an exact price because it depends on the coach you choose and if you go for a one-time session or more regular tutoring.

According to Relationship Hero, hourly rates range from $80-250. Furthermore, they provide lower per-hour rates for larger purchases.

Some of the pricing appear to fluctuate slightly depending on whether I’m logged in or using a different browser. Which is a little perplexing.

To give you an idea, I found some typical instructors who are providing a one-hour initial session for $85.

I also came across a coaching subscription with a typical coach for $280 (equivalent to $70 each session).

Some coaches also offer 30-minute or 45-minute sessions, which may be a more cost-effective option.

On request, a small number of coaches also provided a price-per-minute option. However, they were around $2.50-$3 per minute.

Personally, I would not enjoy that because the time is continually ticking and I’m not sure what you could fix in less than half an hour.

In terms of pricing, it’s also worth noting that they don’t accept insurance.

Reviewing Relationship Hero: Advantages and Disadvantages

Pros:

1) It is quite convenient and easily accessible.

Relationship Hero‘s simplicity is a significant positive for me.

When you’re going through a difficult moment, you want the help you receive to be as quick and simple as possible.

And Relationship Hero certainly delivers.

It is a resource that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You also get to choose how you want to communicate with your coach (by phone, video or live chat)

You don’t have to wait for an appointment while you’re in a crisis. Finally, you can almost instantaneously connect with an expert.

2) It is proactive, and you will receive actionable measures to do.

This was also mentioned earlier. But, for me, one of Relationship Hero’s distinguishing features is that they aren’t simply offering a sympathetic ear.

Instead, you will receive practical counsel and recommendations about how to better your situation.

They will not only listen to your concerns, but will also strive to assist you solve them.

Not everything you try will succeed, but in my experience, a lot will (because they are not relying on guesswork, but on their skill).

They will assist you in writing the perfect message if you want to find the correct words to say to your ex to bring them back.

If you don’t sure how to approach a difficult subject with your partner, they’ll assist you figure it out.

If you haven’t had a date in years and can’t figure out what’s wrong, they’ll figure it out so you can solve it.

Coaching with Relationship Hero is quite practical.

3) You discover a lot about yourself.

You not only learn about your connections, but you also learn about yourself. Which is at the heart of everything.

Let me provide an example.

I really like the discussion I had about underlying issues and core needs, as well as destructive behavior patterns and coping techniques.

It assisted me in figuring things out about myself and reflecting on them. Essentially, you begin to comprehend the underlying causes of your own and your partner’s conduct.

And this is quite helpful in learning to solve your own difficulties.

4) The coaches are truly kind and helpful.

If you don’t get along with your coach for whatever reason, you can always change.

I admit that I only discovered this because I knew I was going to write a review of Relationship Hero and went exploring around on the website.

There is a variety of interesting information and tools available there.

I strongly advise you to read the Client Handbook.

If, like me, you’re interested in human psychology, I think you’ll enjoy this book.

Meditations, an emotion stabilization questionnaire, and a so-called future-defining worksheet are among the practical self-help resources provided.

There are also detailed explanations of many relationship challenges and events.

As an example:

I’m clearly a married man. However, there are some very practical dating recommendations based on the foundations of attraction that are really insightful.

It goes so far as to offer thorough explanations about online dating, which are split down into rules for boys and ladies.

Cons:

1) The majority of coaches don’t have official qualifications.

The great majority of Relationship Hero’s relationship coaches are not legally qualified professionals (aka therapists or psychologists).

Some have extra and relevant qualifications, which are noted and discussed in their profiles. If you wish that, you can discover coaches with professional training there.

However, unlike therapy, the coaching sector is not officially controlled. And I believe it is critical to be aware of this.

Relationship Hero coaches receive in-house training. They are given 160 hours of training (both theory and practical). They also receive specialized training in typical difficulties such as breakups, adultery, codependency, dating problems, and so on.

What I will say is that I do not believe qualifications are always important. They might undoubtedly be considered relationship experts.

So whether or not the lack of official qualifications is a “negative” for you is likely to be determined by your individual wants and preferences.

2) It can become costly.

Let’s face it: coaching is definitely a luxury rather than a need.

If you’re struggling to pay your bills and put food on the table, this probably isn’t for you.

I tried to see it as an investment in what was most important to me – my relationship. However, you must still be in a financial position to do so.

You may be able to locate cheaper solutions available locally depending on where you reside in the world.

Relationship Hero is headquartered in San Francisco. As a result, the fees are likely to be low in comparison to regular therapists and coaches in California.

However, depending on where you live, this may not be the case.

What I will say is that, in general, coaching is quite pricey. I know a couple coaches who charge much more than $100 per hour.

So whether or not you wish to pay the money comes down to your personal financial condition and priorities.

However, if you want continuing maintenance, the costs can quickly add up.

3) The pricing plans require some improvement.

It’s not only that it’s expensive. I also believe that prices on the site should be more open and simplified.

I understand that each relationship coach has varying levels of experience and expertise, and that their rates will reflect this.

But, with all the mention of “credits,” “subscriptions,” and “pay per minute” alternatives, it sometimes feels like a cell phone plan.

Trying to estimate how much it will cost you can feel convoluted rather than clear.

When I originally joined, I had to look through the FAQs to locate any mention of the prices, rather than it being prominently shown on the website.

Even so, the pricing range is vaguely stated to be between $80-$250 per hour.

When looking for a coach, you can sort by Standard coach, Senior coach, or Master coach.

Standard is the most affordable, with an hourly rate of $75-$100 indicated. You may also find some coaches for that fee.

However, even among typical coaches, prices vary greatly, with many exceeding the price guidelines provided.

In fact, many basic coaches charge $200 for an hour of coaching, which is clearly double the amount stated.

Relationship Hero: How it works

You have a few alternatives for getting started.

When you click the “Get Started” button on the homepage, you will be directed to a profiler quiz.

This will ask you a series of questions about your circumstance in order to match you with the best coach to assist you.

It will then link you to an online chat with the recommended coach to discuss and assess the situation further.

However, you are soon directed to book your first introductory appointment with the coach.

You will leave that session with a full assessment of your relationship troubles and the best course of action to take.

You can then join up for additional regular sessions for continuous support.

Also, you can find your own coach rather than being matched with one through the internet directory.

You can refine your search using a variety of search criteria. Finally, you can browse for coaches with specific areas of specialization, such as:

Polyamory, religious disagreements, sex, grief, drug addiction, ADHD, fetishes and kinks, and other issues

My personal experience with Relationship Hero

One of the reasons I went to Relationship Hero was because I found it easier to use an online service rather than meeting someone in person.

This way, it felt more anonymous and also weirdly intimate. I felt like I could open up.

To begin, I found it really beneficial to address my relationship concerns with someone who was both unbiased and objective. But it also felt like they were on my side, which definitely helped put me at ease.

Simply stating certain things out loud helped me a lot more than I thought. I believe just getting things off my chest felt better than having them go around and around in my thoughts.

But I also came away from my coaching sessions with ideas for how to improve my relationship. And I got some pointers on how I may enhance my general communication with my wife.

I believe it also helped that Jess saw her own coach through Relationship Hero. So it seemed like we were both improving our relationship. However, I do not believe it is necessary for your partner to receive instruction as well.

And, without a doubt, I believe we are much better at discussing our issues and listening to one another now.

It’s also perfect for anyone who is stuck in a relationship or in their love life and needs a plan.

This is where it differs from therapy as well as other coaches.

Normally, therapists and coaches do not provide advice, but Relationship Hero coaches have been specifically educated to do so.

Who is NOT a good fit for Relationship Hero?

If you have trauma or mental health difficulties, I would always advocate speaking with a medical practitioner rather than a coach.

While coaching can assist people in working through life and relationship issues, if you have more significant issues, you should consult with a doctor who has medical knowledge.

Before connecting you to a coach, Relationship Hero will inquire about your mental health. They will also inquire about any violence in your relationship.

They are not educated to deal with these types of situations and will decline tutoring if you are one of them.

Aside than that, I’d say it’s not for people looking for a fast miracle fix.

They can provide counsel and direction, but you must certainly do the work and make the adjustments yourself.

Relationships Hero offers several sorts of coaching.

One to one coaching

So far, we’ve mostly talked on individual coaching.

It’s one-on-one time with the coach.

You hire a coach of your choice for a set period of time, and the two of you discuss your relationship condition and concerns.

Coaching in a Group

Group coaching is when you get together with other people who are in a similar situation to you and share a session.

Essentially, the advantages are that it is less expensive.

However, you can benefit from the experiences of others and feel the support of individuals who understand what you’re going through. The sessions are centered on sharing similar struggles.

According to some research, listening to other people being coached can be even more useful. We’re more receptive, so it works better.

The group coaching sessions are all advertised online, and you can join up for the ones that interest you.

They are available by purchasing “credit” from the coach leading the group session.

The subjects discussed are extremely diverse and include things like:

Clarity on whether to leave or stay

What are the alternatives?

A short web search will reveal that there are numerous relationship coaches available online.

Although I haven’t discovered any that I believe compete with what Relationship Hero has to offer.

So, in my opinion, the alternatives to Relationship Hero are:

Searching for your own therapist or coach
Speaking with a friend

Talking to a friend is clearly free, so that’s a significant plus.

And I’d say it’s still your best bet if you just want someone to listen to you so you can get stuff off your chest.

But (depending on your friend), I’m guessing they won’t give you professional advice. And, realistically, they will not be objective or non-judgmental.

After all, people know you and are sure to have preconceived notions about you. And I believe that is why many of us find it difficult to communicate with friends and family.

You could also look for a therapist. If you are suffering from any type of mental illness, this should be your first choice.

The advantage is that they will receive more specialized training. However, if you’re looking for relationship guidance, they won’t be able to provide it.

Remember how I mentioned Relationship Hero’s unique selling point of stepping in and providing proactive advise and support? This is something that therapists will not do.

So, once again, it is dependent on whether you want someone to listen or a plan to follow.

Conclusion: Reviewing Relationship Hero, Is It Worthwhile?

Overall, using Relationship Hero was absolutely worthwhile for me.

I haven’t signed up for regular coaching sessions since I don’t believe I need to right now.

However, having additional sessions is something I know I will do again in the future to assist support me in my marriage and continue to enhance our relationship.

I believe whether it is ultimately worthwhile for you will be determined by your priorities and your ability to comfortably invest in it. As it is plainly not a cheap or affordable solution for everyone.

What I can guarantee you in this review is that the coaching quality at Relationship Hero was excellent, and the advise was extremely practical and productive.
